About the Bonza Bash

Bonza Bash originally started as a birthday party for three Aussies living in Seattle, Brenton, Dave and Ben. Since we all hail from Australia, all live in Seattle and all have our birthdays in March, it seemed like a good idea to throw a combined birthday party.

We wanted something different from the standard boring old house party – instead something unique, something special. So, we took a concept from Australia where once a year they throw a huge party in the middle of the Australian Outback. People bus/fly/chopper in from all over the place to attend this amazing black tie party and charity fundraiser in the most unlikely of places – hundreds of miles from anywhere in the heart of the Outback.

The first year we had 250 people show up at Dave’s house in Kirkland. We had food, drinks, a formal dress code, one dance room with a DJ, one room setup for salsa dancing, a hot tub and a shuttle driver picking people up and dropping them off. Needless to say, the party was a huge success.

Since then Brenton and Dave have picked up the ball and turned Bonza Bash into a staple on the Seattle social scene. 2006’s party was at Pravda Studios in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighbourhood, 2007’s party was at the top of the Seattle Space Needle. The most recent party was in May of 2008 at the Seattle Aquarium, where 700 people danced the night away to The Dudley Manlove Quartet as well as one of Seattle’s top DJs, DJ Rythma. Not only did Seattle’s swankiest twist the night away, but they did so while raising money for charity, sampling some delicious traditional Aussie cuisine, and enjoying a beverage or two. The adventurous even sampled a cocktail from our ice bar modeled after the infamous Sydney Opera House. Good times.

As the Bonza Bash continues to grow, watch this space. We have some very exciting things coming up, perhaps sooner than you think…
