2010 marks the 61st anniversary of the Seafair Pirates, and during this time the Pirates have entertained Seattle-ites both young and old. Over the years, you might have seen them at hospital or nursing home visits, charity fundraisers, their Christmas basket drive (the “Holiday Treasure Chest”), any of the numerous parades and community events they’re invited to each year or, and most prominently, in their swashbuckling role bringing mayhem and hearty good fun to the annual Seattle Seafair carnival!
Unfortunately, tragedy struck the Seafair Pirates several weeks ago when their pride and joy (and primary fundraising vehicle) “Moby Duck” caught fire while returning to her home after having some repair work done. With damages approaching $25,000, the Seafair Pirates need to look beyond just their own treasure chests to meet these expenses and here at Bonza Bash we’re delighted to be able to work with them to help achieve their goal. By getting “Moby Duck” back on her feet, the Seafair Pirates can look towards another 61 years (and more!) of helping the less fortunate, or less healthy in our community.
The Pirates will be in attendance at Bonza Bash Halloween – and will be running our costume competition. To celebrate this partnership, we’re adding a new costume category - “Best Pirate or Wench” – and your Seattle Seafair Pirates will be bringing some phenomenal prizes to add to the bounty on offer. More details soon – but as you purchase your tickets to the event, remember that you can now make a donation to this worthy, local and 501(c)3 organization at the time of purchase online. Thankyou in advance for your generosity!
